Founders Often Tell Me They’re Chasing Perfection

Founders often tell me they’re chasing perfection.

→ The perfect pitch.
→ The perfect product.
→ The perfect moment to launch.

But perfection is an illusion.

You move closer, and it shifts just out of reach.
You set an expectation, you achieve, but you feel it’s not enough, and you try to make it perfect.

Yes, that sort of hard work is good.
But overdoing it leaves behind exhaustion.

Leaders running on fumes.
Nervous systems locked in overdrive.
Families waiting for a presence that never arrives.

And with my experience, let me tell you that perfection isn’t the path to success, presence is.

Presence means:

1/ Showing up to the meeting with clarity and intention instead of criticism.
2/ Listening to your team instead of obsessing over flaws in the slide deck.
3/ Honoring your energy so you can sustain the journey.

Because the truth is:

Perfection doesn’t inspire people. Humanity does.

When you let go of “perfect,” you create space for momentum. You create space for trust and appreciation.

And most importantly, you create space to be the kind of leader people want to follow. So if you’re building something right now, here’s my gentle reminder: stop chasing perfect.

Start practicing presence. That’s where the real power lies.
