How to Use START, STOP, CONTINUE to Achieve Your Goals

Dandelion Wishes. In my childhood, we would pick a dandelion, make a wish, and blow on the flower to watch the seeds float through the air wondering if our wish would come true.

This is the biggest dandelion I have ever seen! Probably the size of a tangerine!

Fast forward to adulting. July is a great time to complete a mid-year check-in.

I often recommend a quick assessment called START, STOP, CONTINUE as a way to review, reset, and plan ahead. This works well in relationships, too.

Start with CONTINUE.
What is going well so far this year, from personal life to professional life?
- Make a list and write it down on paper or in your favorite note-taking app.
- Celebrate it! Life is good. Good things are happening. Notice them.
- Your mind works better when you start with GRATITUDE.

Next, what do you need to START doing that you keep putting off?
- Call someone more often, say "I appreciate you" more regularly
- Track a behavior to improve on performance
- Allow for more quiet time or social time to re-energize

Finally, what do you need to STOP doing?
- Going to bed too late
- Excessive behaviors that DO NOT support your success
- Avoiding an important task or conversation

A quick START, STOP, CONTINUE review is a great tool to use to STAY ON TRACK with your most important goals and relationships.

When you

- practice AWARENESS,
- make ADJUSTMENTS on your focus, and
- engage in ACCOUNTABILITY,

you will make your DANDELION WISH come true!

Try it and let me know how you find it helpful.
