Leaders Rarely Get Asked: “How Are You, Really?”
Leaders, from CEOs to the new manager, carry immense pressure to present as strong, composed, unshakable, kind, and focused.
But left unchecked can lead to pressure that accelerates burnout.
> Irritability
> Quick To Anger
> Brain Fog
> Brain and Body Aches
> Reluctance To Start the Day
> Inability To Turn Off
> Sleep Deprivation
Excitement is one thing, but noticing a shift in energy and focus is another.
Practice regular self-check-ins:
1. How’s my energy today?
2. What’s draining vs. fueling me?
3. What support do I need right now?
🌱 Giving yourself permission to pause and reflect is a radical act of leadership.
Ask me how I know. Many times over the years, there were times I needed to regroup, have some quiet moments, really ask myself what do I need right now.
This is what works for me:
> Practicing Gratitude- what is going right, what am I thankful for- helps me relax
> Writing Down Worries- I call it my worry list- helps me identify what is the real issue and actually calms my overthinking
> Creating Action Items- helps me focus on the next most important thing and decide who I can delegate to or ask for guidance- this really quiets my mind
You've got this! And, if you want help staying in the "green" and avoiding burnout, let's talk.
